Why visit Ithaca.

Ithaca quickly works its magic on all who arrive here, the pace of life is slow and laidback, visitors cannot help but be drawn into the relaxing ambience of this beautiful island.

The days you spend here enjoying the sheer beauty of this island are best not planned but spent relaxing, sipping a frappe in one of the cafebars, sampling fresh local produce in friendly tavernas and watching the world go by.

Exploring by road, the views are breathtaking, the contrasting mountains and olive groves with tiny pebbly coves and sparkling waters below. Across the sea, clearly visible are the surrounding islands of Kefalonia, Lefkas, Arkoudi, Meganisi, Atokos, Kalamos, Kastos with the mainland beyond. You will discover the desolate beauty of remote mountain villages where time stands still and attractive busy waterfronts popular with sailing boats and luxury yachts.

In springtime the abundance of wild flowers, fauna and butterflies make walking the pathways a joy, either alone or taking to the mountains with a guide. Bird watchers can spot eagles, kestrels and even kingfishers swooping into the shallow waters. The soothing sound of the scops owl is to many symbolic of Greece.

The gentle waters of the Ionian make for pleasant days with a small boat, exploring secluded coves, swimming, snorkeling and observing the marine life of these waters. A traditional caique offers cruises around Ithaca, to neighbouring islands and beaches.
